Keep the glow going

There’s nothing better than lighting your favourite Izzy Loops candle, settling in and letting the beautiful fragrance fill your home. But a little candle care goes a long way toward getting the cleanest, safest, and longest-lasting burn.

Our candles are lovingly made with natural soy wax and cotton wicks, designed to give you a slow, even burn. Follow these simple tips to get the most from your candle and enjoy every last flicker.

Candle Care in a Heatwave ☀️

During hot weather, keep your candles somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight to prevent the wax from softening or melting.

If your candle does get too warm, allow it to cool and fully solidify before lighting.

Before you light...

Trim your wick

Always trim your wick to around ¼ inch (5mm) before lighting your candle, and remember to do this before every burn.

Remove any wick trimmings from the surface of the wax before lighting.

A properly trimmed wick helps create a cleaner, more controlled flame and prevents the wick from becoming too long.

Find the right spot

Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from children and pets.

Keep it away from draughts and avoid placing your candle on or near hot surfaces, such as a fireplace or mantelpiece.

Your First Burn Matters

The first burn is important!

When you light your candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the jar. This helps prevent tunnelling, where the candle burns down the middle, leaving a ring of unused wax around the sides.

Give your candle enough time to create a full melt pool before extinguishing it, but never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

Keep An Eye On Your Burn

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

For safety, don't burn your candle for longer than 4 hours in one go. Burning for longer can cause the candle to reach higher temperatures and may result in a large, unstable flame.

Always keep an eye on your candle while it's lit and extinguish it if the flame becomes too large or unstable.

When It's Time To Extinguish

A candle snuffer is the safest way to extinguish your candle, helping to prevent hot wax from splattering.

Never use water to put out a candle.

Allow the candle and container to cool completely before moving it.

Know When To Say Goodbye

As tempting as it is to enjoy every last bit of wax, don't burn your candle when there is less than 1cm of wax remaining at the bottom of the jar or container.

This helps prevent excessive heat from building up inside the container.

Once your candle has finished, clean and reuse your jar where possible — because at Izzy Loops, we love a little extra life from our favourite things.
